Q. How to find ones Ishta Devata? A. Find the Atmakaraka (the planet having the highest degree in the chart), Then look at its placement in the D9 varga chart. Note its position, this is the Karakamsha Lagna. The deity corresponding to the planet ruling the sign 12th from karakamsha lagna, ie., 12th from the atmakaraka in the D9 is your Ishta Devata. Here - Mars is AK, Virgo is karakamsha Lagna, 12th from it is Leo, which is ruled by the sun, so Lord Ram is your Ishta Devata.
